The 2M Alliance has been updating its Transpacific network to the US East Coast with the aim of better managing the current challenging market situation, which is generating congestion across the supply chain.
Following the changes in its Asia-North America sailing schedule, the largest container alliance, which consists of Maersk and MSC, will introduce a new service, which will commence on 22 May with the 5,500TEU ER Kobe departing from Vietnam.
The new service is called TP23/Liberty service and will have the following rotation Vung Tau – Yantian – Panama – Charleston – Savannah – New York – Suez – Tanjung Pelepas/Singapore.
The two carriers have also announced amendments in the rotations of the TP16/Emerald and TP17/America services.
MSC said that new rotations are expected to improve the distribution of the cargo flows in the company’s existing network and reduce exposure to some of the challenges in the current market environment.
The updated rotations are detailed below:
TP17/America service: Hong Kong – Nansha – Yantian – Vung Tau – Singapore – New York – Savannah – Miami – Freeport – Tanjung Pelepas.
TP16/Emerald service: Xiamen – Yantian – Shanghai – Busan – Cristobal – Savannah – Norfolk – New York – Singapore.
First Effective Sailings: 
The Swiss-based carrier noted that the reshuffled network aims to ensure faster rotations and enable its customers to better plan their supply chains.
In the meantime, the rotation of 2M Alliance’s TP10/Amberjack, TP11/Elephant, TP18/Lone Star and TP88/Pelican services will remain unchanged, according to statements from the two alliance companies.
