Maersk, MSC and Hapag-Lloyd have announced that they have signed a space charter agreement for the Asia-North Europe trade starting in March 2020, giving the German line an as yet unspecified amount of space on some of the alliance’s vessels.
Hapag-Lloyd says that with the new deal its product offering will be expanded on the Asia-North Europe trade. The German shipping company will gain access to selected services of the 2M Alliance, enhancing its network with more frequent weekly departures and more routing options.
In addition, Hapag-Lloyd says it will offer a direct service to additional ports with a high schedule reliability.
Exact details of the deal have yet to be announced, with Maersk and MSC finalising their service offerings, but a Hapag-Lloyd spokesman confirmed that updates on the agreement are expected by the end of January.
