CLdN completes major investment to expand capacity at Liverpool’s Brocklebank Terminal

CLdN has announced the successful completion of a multimillion-pound investment in its Brocklebank terminal at the Port of Liverpool.

The infrastructure enhancements have optimized space utilization and streamlined cargo movement processes.

A new gate system and terminal operating system have been introduced to improve the overall customer experience for cargo drop-off and pick-up operations.

As part of this investment, the widening of a RoRo linkspan is paving the way for larger and more environmentally friendly vessels to utilize the terminal. These upgrades are key to CLdN’s plans to boost capacity on its Liverpool-Dublin route, which currently features 17 return sailings per week. This route provides a vital freight connection between Great Britain and Ireland while also supporting transshipment services from Spain.

The project has also opened up new career opportunities at the terminal. In collaboration with a local college, CLdN is establishing technical apprenticeship programs to support workforce development and enhance local skills.

With these improvements, CLdN is further strengthening its position as a crucial link in the freight network, driving growth and sustainability in the region.

Commenting on the investment Florent Maes, CEO of CLdN, stated: “This upgrade to our Liverpool terminal is part of a wave of major investments by CLdN in our UK port infrastructure. The investment will provide tangible benefits to customers, create opportunities for skilled jobs in Liverpool and further reduce the carbon intensity of our operations by allowing larger ships to be deployed on the Liverpool-Dublin route.”
