The United Kingdom’s largest port operator Associated British Ports (ABP) has launched the first of its port-manufacturing sites, called the Humber International Enterprise Park (HIEP), at the Port of Hull.
The 1,893,996 m2 HIEP site includes 857,934 m2 of the port estate that benefits from Enterprise Zone Status, which is situated within the Humber Freeport Tax Assisted Zone.
This development site in the Humber is the first of a tranche of 14 sites, of more than 4,047,000 m2 of development land in total, that ABP has brought forward to support the UK’s supply chain, manufacturing, and renewable energy sectors, according to Simon Bird, ABP’s regional director for the Humber.
ABP has appointed the property consultants Commercial Real Estate Services (CBRE) and Savills to act as agents and to advise on the project, according to a statement.
The potential of quayside access to the Port of Hull via a dedicated road and rail link, as well as on-site renewable energy generation, are making the site “ideally suited” for port-centric manufacturing and logistics.
“HIEP offers huge potential to support business growth for those looking to base themselves in the Humber. Port-centric manufacturers would have easy access to import and export commodities whilst benefiting from the Humber Freeport status,” noted Bird.
