AD Ports launches eco-friendly unmanned survey vessel

SAFEEN Subsea, part of AD Ports Group’s Maritime & Shipping Cluster, has introduced SAFEEN Green, an advanced unmanned surface vessel (USV) engineered to transform marine survey and inspection practices.

This cutting-edge vessel delivers commercial-grade geophysical data with outstanding operational efficiency and environmental sustainability.

SAFEEN Green marks a substantial step forward in subsea services, as it is capable of operating up to 200 nautical miles offshore to capture high-quality geophysical and hydrographic data with minimal ecological impact.

“The launch of SAFEEN Green marks a significant milestone in our commitment to sustainability and technological innovation. By integrating advanced remote operations and zero-emission capabilities, we are setting new standards for the maritime industry, encompassing safety and efficiency while remaining competitive and contributing to a greener future,” commented Captain Ammar Al Shaiba, CEO of the Maritime & Shipping Cluster, AD Ports Group.

Managed remotely from an onshore Remote Operation Centre (ROC), the vessel leverages sophisticated navigation and safety systems to maintain secure and continuous operations.

Powered entirely by renewable electric energy or biofuel, SAFEEN Green produces only 10% of the emissions associated with traditional vessels, significantly lowering its carbon footprint.

Its unmanned design improves safety by removing personnel risks, while features like dual autopilot systems, redundant HD cameras, and robust monitoring tools ensure smooth and secure functionality. With modular payload options and enhanced fuel efficiency, it combines cost-effectiveness with high performance.

“SAFEEN Green is not just another unmanned vessel; it is a testament to our dedication to excellence and environmental stewardship. With its ability to operate independently for extended periods and perform a wide range of subsea tasks, SAFEEN Green is poised to become an invaluable asset for offshore EPC projects in the region,” stated Tareq Abdulla Al Marzooqi, CEO of SAFEEN Subsea, part of AD Ports Group.
