Aker Solutions’ subsidiary CSE in Brazil has become victim of a cyber-attack that has impacted its Information Technology (IT) systems.
Aker Solutions, a solutions, products and services provider in the global energy industry, said it “is working to contain and neutralise the attack, but does not yet know the full extent of the situation.”
The company has informed and is cooperating with the Brazilian authorities on the incident, while Aker Solutions’ global IT organization is working to resolve the situation together with external expertise.
The attack is currently directed at CSE, a fully-owned Aker Solutions subsidiary with approximately 450 employees in Brazil with its main business being providing maintenance and modifications services to oil and gas installations offshore Brazil.
According to a statement, the attackers claim that they have entered the IT systems, encrypted digital files and locked access to data.
Aker Solutions noted it has carried out several immediate mitigating actions, including temporarily shutting down most of the IT systems used in the CSE business entity.
“So far there are no indications that other parts of Aker Solutions’ IT systems than the ones of subsidiary CSE have been infected,” added Aker Solutions.
