Expertise from ISL Applications GmbH, the ports and logistics experts at akquinet, and the product family CHESSCON is coming together in a new company managed by Prof. Dr. Holger Schuett and Norbert Klettner.
ISL Applications GmbH is teaming up with akquinet AG. In the future, it will be operating as a subsidiary of the akquinet group under the name akquinet port consulting GmbH. The company’s main office is located in Bremerhaven.
For people who plan and operate terminals and container ports “CHESSCON” is a familiar name. The software product family from ISL Applications GmbH offers simulation models for terminals, ranging from capacity forecasts to layout, process, and TOS optimization and from shift planning to new, interactive training methods. The managers, Holger Schuett and Horst-Dieter Kassl, have decided to hand over the licensing business relating to the CHESSCON product family and consulting and training services to the new company akquinet port consulting GmbH. The company’s main office remains Bremerhaven.
“As a subsidiary of akquinet AG, a strong company, we can work together with the parent company to appeal even better to its existing, global network in the field of ports and logistics and expand our business strategically,” says Holger Schuett. Norbert Klettner, manager of akquinet business consulting and expert in both port processes and Terminal Operating Systems (TOS), will manage akquinet port consulting together with Holger Schuett. akquinet will thereby bundle its activities in the port and logistics sector in the new subsidiary company as sector competence.
“CHESSCON and the consulting services of ISL Applications have led the global market in the port sector for years and have enormous marketing potential. We are glad to be able to combine it with akquinet’s port and logistics activities in our new company,” says Norbert Klettner. Horst-Dieter Kassl will remain true to the work he has carried out for decades as the new company’s authorized representative and chief technical officer (CTO of product development at CHESSCON).
ISL Applications GmbH developed in 2010 as a commercial aspect of the Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics (ISL) in Bremen. The ISL remains one of akquinet port consulting’s trusted partners.
