APL announces arrangements for China reefers

With the extended Lunar New Year holidays and concerns regarding the spread of the Novel Coronavirus, terminal operations and pick-up of inbound containers in China has been slow.

Consequently, most reefer plugs at the yards of all container terminals in Shanghai and Tianjin are already occupied, according to the CMA CGM subsidiary APL.

In view of the operational challenges, APL has announced the following arrangements:

  • Reefer containers that are awaiting pick-up at container terminals in Shanghai may be temporarily stored and plugged on board a vessel docked alongside.
  • Reefer containers in transit to Shanghai or Tianjin may be re-routed for transhipment.

APL’s local office will reach out and advise details if your cargo is affected., said the company.

“As we try our best to safeguard your cargo, please note that all related costs will be on Consignee’s account upon delivery,” the liner company added.
