The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) confirmed the addition of Jeddah Islamic Port in Saudi Arabia to Asyad Line’s REX service port rotation.
The new cargo route, launched in May, connects Jeddah to the Indian ports of Nhava Sheva and Mundra, port of Salalah in Oman, and Egypt’s port of Sokhna via two vessels with a container capacity of 2,800 TEUs.
Mawani believes the new call at Jeddah Islamic Port will help the port authority achieve its goals of improving the competitiveness of the country’s busiest hub and its container operators, as well as growing Saudi Arabia’s marine connectivity and trade output in line with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS).
