Oman’s global logistics service provider Asyad Shipping has extended Oman-India Express Service, its India direct line, by commissioning a new container line that connects Oman directly to Singapore and Malaysia, the first direct route linking the three countries.
The new service line, which is now connecting Oman with India, Singapore and Malaysia, through the Port of Sohar, has an anticipated total throughput of 100,000 TEUs annually.
Asyad Shipping said the new product is expected reduce journey times and offer competitive transshipment rates through the port of Sohar in Oman, which already provides direct services to China, South Korea, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan and the wider Gulf region, affording southeast Asian partners swift and easy access to new markets in the Gulf, the Middle East and East Africa.
“This the first of its kind service, will increase delivery speed and ensure goods coming from Singapore and Malaysia have direct and easy access, using a trusted shipping solutions provider, to the GCC, the Middle East and East Africa markets with in excess of 500 million consumers,” commented Asyad Shipping’s ocean-freight service to Malaysia and Singapore, ASYAD Shipping CEO, Ibrahim Al Nadhairi.
An Asyad-owned 4,250 TEU container vessel will support twice-monthly services, while the Port of Sohar received on 13 February its first direct container shipment via the new direct shipping line launched by Oman, represented by Asyad Group, with the Singaporean and Malaysian ports.
“This new container line is set to increase trade relations with Asian countries, provide competitive advantages to the local and regional trade community, enhance all national exports to and from Singaporean and Malaysian and neighbouring markets, and provide Omani traders with a fast, time- and cost-effective access to Singapore as an international distribution hub and subsequently to Southeast Asian markets,” commented ASYAD Shipping CEO.
