Beibu Gulf Port Group unveiled its new Huaihua Container Yard in China on 11 May, marking a significant step forward in the construction of the new western land-sea corridor between Hunan and Guangxi Provinces.
The new Huaihua Container Yard is located in Huaihua International Dry Port, next to Huaihua West Station, the largest railroad freight yard in western Hunan.
The new dry port consists of three operating areas, the container yard, the unpacking area, and the warehousing logistics distribution area, covering an area of 20,000 m².
Hunan and Guangxi provinces have strategic positions to promote coordinated regional development throughout the country and to build a new model of domestic and international development, according to a statement.
In November 2020, they jointly signed the “Framework Agreement on Further Deepening the Cooperation between Guangxi and Hunan”, actively promoting the participation of companies in Hunan Province in the construction, operation, and development of the Beibu Gulf port.
Huaihua Dry Port is the first port to be established by Beibu Gulf Port in Hunan Province. The connection will help to promote shipping companies and Beibu Gulf’s own containers to set up a container management center in Huaihua Dry Port and promote the construction of the new western land-sea passage at a lower cost, according to the announcement.
At the same time, Beibu Gulf Port, which has already built 14 dry ports in China, believes the new yard will also open the economic channel between the inland hub seaport and the gateway port, build and serve local industries.
