BIMCO appoints new deputy secretary general

Stinne Taiger Ivø, who currently serves as BIMCO’s director of Contracts and Support, is set to assume the role of deputy secretary general at BIMCO starting 1 January 2024.

Ivø, who joined BIMCO in early 2022 to lead the Contracts & Support department, oversees the development of contracts and clauses for the shipping industry in collaboration with industry representatives.

Additionally, the Support & Advice department, under her guidance, addresses members’ queries related to charter parties and other contracts.

Before joining BIMCO, Ivø held positions as the head of the claims department at marine insurer Skuld in Copenhagen, worked at Danish Shipping (formerly known as the Danish Shipowners’ Association), and served as a lawyer at Gorrissen Federspiel’s department for Shipping/Offshore/Transportation. She holds a PhD in international company law and a Master of Laws from the University of Copenhagen.

As a key member of the leadership team, Ivø will represent the Contracts & Clauses business area at BIMCO. This role is particularly crucial as the shipping industry navigates an influx of new regulations from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the European Union (EU) in the pursuit of decarbonization.

Søren Larsen, currently the Deputy Secretary General overseeing BIMCO’s contractual work, will retire in May after an impressive 39 years of service.
