The Hong Kong-flagged Tiger Maanshan crashed into a gantry crane at Hai An Port in Vietnam, while it also collided with another berthed container ship, which is still unidentified. The incident occurred on 10 August in Hai Phong, Vietnam.
The incident caused slight damage to both vessels and a more serious impairment to the gantry crane, which remains out of service. According to the reports, there are no casualties.
The main reason for the accident seems to be the loss of control of Tiger Maanshan, while it was on its way to the dock. The operator of Tiger Maanshan is the Chinese ship management company, Greathorse.
The container ship hit by Tiger Maanshan seems to have left the port on schedule, while Tiger Maanshan remains in Hai Phong with the status “At Anchor”, according to the maritime real-time information provider MarineTraffic.
