Busan container terminal orders new Konecranes equipment

Busan New Container Terminal (BNCT) has ordered six Noell Sprinter Carriers from the port equipment manufacturing company Konecranes, to complement its existing fleet of 36 Sprinter Carriers.

Five of the machines on order were booked in June and one in September, while the order is estimated to be delivered to the South Korean port by June 2022.

BNCT ordered the Sprinter Carriers which are of the type NSC 424 E, to support a growing business as they play a critical role in transporting containers between the quayside and the container yard and lifting containers one-over-one high, according to a statement.

Equipped with eco-efficient and diesel-electric drives, they will be the first Stage V compliant container handling machines in the port of Busan, fulfilling the EU Stage V emission standard which is expected to help BNCT meet its low-carbon operating targets.

“We received our first Konecranes Noell Sprinter Carriers in 2012 and have come to appreciate their reliability, efficiency, and strong local service support,” said General Manager of BNCT.
