Camco Technologies to implement truck OCR in four German terminals

DUSS, Germany’s largest inland terminal operator for intermodal rail-road transport will integrate Camco Technologies truck optical character recognition (OCR) systems for gate automation in its terminals in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Leipzig and Stuttgart.

The Camco Technologies Artificial Intelligence (AI) based image recognition technology will register in and outgoing trucks, containers and semi-trailers, according to a statement.

Additionally, built-in AI processors will analyse images on the camera speeding up data availability, leaving out the need for separate AI servers.

The captured data includes truck license plate recognition (LPR), container number, ISO code, International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) placards, seal presence, door orientation as well as container weight. The Camco hardware and Gate Operating System will integrate into the DUSS owned BLU Terminal Operating System.

“The gate automation project is another important building block on the way to automating the entire transport process and towards Terminal 4.0,” commented Andreas Schultz, CEO of DUSS.
