San Antonio Terminal Internacional (STI) has begun taking delivery of 19 Konecranes Liftace reach stackers and one Konecranes Liftace empty container handler at its operations at the Port of San Antonio in central Chile.
The first delivery of six units was completed in July 2022, the second is expected later this year and the third in early 2023.
The two companies, SAAM Puertos S.A and Stevedoring Service of America (SSA) Marine jointly own and operate the STI terminal at the largest port in Chile, Port of San Antonio.
When STI was looking to renew its fleet of lifting equipment, it chose Konecranes, with the support of local dealer TREX.
Each of the 19 stackers is a Konecranes Liftace 4532 TCE 5, a strong box-type frame and a wide drive axle with a long wheelbase provide high stability, safe handling and long-lasting performance.
The longitudinal mobile cab offers drivers comfort, flexibility and easy access, according to a statement, while in compliance with SOLAS, Konecranes’ static weighing system provides verified gross mass for all loaded containers.
The empty container handler is a Konecranes Liftace 6/7 ECC 9, a powerful, durable and safe yard tool that can lift up to nine tons.
The hoists are equipped with HLL (Hydraulic Long-Life) filter system, which extends the oil change interval up to 12,000 hours due to the fine filtration, this equates to fewer oil changes, and STI can save costs and there is more uptime as well as less oil waste.
Konecranes said an AR (augmented reality) 3D sensor and a 2D camera with on-screen alerts provide wider visibility throughout the truck.
TRUCONNECT® Remote Monitoring follows each truck’s performance through information such as operations and usage data, fleet optimisation and the verified container mass measured by the reach stackers.
