Chinese MPP player United Faith sees more container cargoes

Chinese multi-purpose vessel operator United Faith group, which transports breakbulk cargoes between China and South America, told Container News that it has been getting demand to carry containers on their ships, especially if the schedules are suitable.

The group operates five chartered sister multi-purpose ships, consisting of the FM Prosperity, Draco Faith, Cena Faith, Elite Faith and Brio Faith. Each vessel has 630TEU of container capacity.

“Most of the time, customers requesting to ship containers on our ships are freight forwarders who find it hard to secure slots from mainline operators,” a United Faith manager told Container News and went on to add, “This has provided additional revenue for us. It’s possible for our ships to be filled entirely with containers, although project cargoes are our core business. Our ships do call at various container terminals in Chile, Peru, Mexico and Brazil and congestion isn’t as serious as in the US West Coast.”
