CLdN has unveiled new services connecting the Dutch port of Rotterdam and Ireland, chartering two 962 TEU lift-on/lift-off (LoLo) cargo vessels, Pavo J and Andromeda J.
These vessels will transport container cargo between Rotterdam’s Distriport terminal and Ireland’s ports in Dublin and Cork. The launch of these LoLo services will optimize CLdN’s roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) fleet deployment, thereby increasing capacity on routes between Rotterdam and the United Kingdom.
Furthermore, this addition addresses heightened customer demand for freight movement between Ireland and mainland Europe. The introduction of two additional weekly LoLo sailings complements CLdN’s existing three RoRo sailings each week to and from Dublin, which will continue operating from CLdN’s RoRo terminal in Rotterdam. Additionally, the LoLo service to Cork complements CLdN’s existing RoRo service from its Zeebrugge terminal.
These new services are scheduled to commence operations in the week commencing 18 March.
CLdN has significantly expanded its presence in the Irish trade since launching its first cargo service to Ireland in 1999. The latest expansion was announced in December last year, with an additional 35,000 square meters of terminal area added in Dublin.
Presently, CLdN transports approximately 500,000 cargo units annually to and from Ireland, establishing itself as the largest ferry freight mover between Ireland and mainland Europe/Great Britain. With the introduction of the new lines, CLdN will operate the following Irish services in each direction every week:
Rotterdam ⟷ Dublin 5 sailings
Rotterdam ⟷ Cork 1 sailing
Zeebrugge ⟷ Dublin 2 sailings
Zeebrugge ⟷ Cork 2 sailings
Santander ⟷ Dublin 2 sailings
Liverpool ⟷ Dublin 20 sailings
Heysham ⟷ Dublin 6 sailings
Apart from the direct sailings mentioned above, CLdN provides comprehensive transshipment options to various destinations including the East coast of England (London, Killingholme, and Teesport), Spain, Portugal, Denmark, and Sweden. Additionally, CLdN manages 11 weekly sailings between Heysham (GB) and Warrenpoint (Northern Ireland).
