CMA CGM adds ICTSI Rio port call on BRAZEX 2 service

ICTSI Rio Brasil 1, which operates the Container Terminal 1 at the Port of Rio de Janeiro, has started a partnership with the French ocean carrier CMA CGM after receiving the inaugural call of Brazil Express Loop 2 (BRAZEX 2) service.

The BRAZEX 2 service was formally launched at the Port of Rio de Janeiro with the arrival of the 2,284 TEU CMA CGM Malta on 16 December.

Operated by a fleet of five ships, CMA CGM’s service has the following port rotation:

Kingston (Jamaica) – Spain (Trinidad and Tobago) – Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) – Santos (Brazil) – Navegantes (Brazil) – Vila de Conde (Brazil) – and Caucedo (Dominican Republic) – Kingston

“With the Port of Rio de Janeiro as the service’s first port of call in southeastern Brazil, our clients can take advantage of extremely competitive transit times for imports,” commented Eduardo Galo, ICTSI Rio commercial director.

BRAZEX 2 offers cargo routes to and from the Gulf, the Caribbean and the United States, using the Port of Kingston as a transhipment hub. With weekly calls to the Port of Rio de Janeiro, the service consolidates ICTSI Rio’s position in connecting Brazil to the rest of the Americas.
