CMA CGM and Hapag Lloyd have published several rate increases for shipments in North Europe and the Mediterranean that will take effect in September and October.
Firstly, CMA CGM will set a Freight All Kinds (FAK) rate increase to all 20′, 40′ standard, reefer and high cube (HC) containers transferred from India to all North European and Mediterranean ports from 15 but not beyond 30 September. The new prices will be as follows:
Furthermore, the French vessel owner will push up its FAK rates for all dry, reefer, out of gauge and breakbulk cargo travelling from Northern Europe, United Kingdom (UK), Baltic States and Scandinavia to Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Somalia and Maldives.
The updated prices that will be applied on 1 October, will be the following:
Starting on the same date, a FAK rate increase of US$1,186 (€1,000) per unit will be implemented from North Europe, Scandinavia, the UK and North Spain Atlantic to the West Coast of South America, forming the new CMA CGM prices as follows:
Another rate increase will be set by the Marseille-based box line for reefer cargoes transhipped from North Europe, Atlantic, Adriatic, Baltic, Scandinavia and West Mediterranean, except Spain, to West Africa. The following increased rares will be effective from 1 October.
On the first day of Octber, CMA CGM will impose a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) from North Europe to West Coast South America and particularly, from ports of Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Poland and Gijon, Bilbao and Vigo of Spain Atlantic with destination to Ecuador, Peru, Chili, Buenaventura of Colombia and ports of Ensenada, Manzanillo and Lazaro Cardenas in Mexico.
This PSS of US$593 will be applied at standard, reefer, non-operating reefer (NOR) and special containers, including in-gauge (IG) and out-of-gauge (OOG) and the surcharge contract will be short-term with a maximum time of application of three months.
With the same date of application and places of destination, the French carrier will introduce a PSS of US$118 to the same types of cargo, sailing from France Atlantic and the UK.
Moreover, CMA CGM will increase its FAK rates from North Europe, Scandinavia, UK, North Spain Atlantic to Latin America and Caribbean ports from 3 October.
The new prices for 20′ and 40′ units will be as follows:
Last but not least, the German carrier Hapag Lloyd will also apply increases to shipments from North Europe and the Mediterranean destined to Australia.
The following increased prices for 20′, 40′ standard and reefer containers will take effect on 1 October.
