CMA CGM has announced a dedicated new service offering with an intermodal solution to serve Harare province in Zimbabwe in complement to the two current services via Beira, Mozambique and via Durban, South Africa.
The French company said that as of the next month, the dedicated block-train shuttle with a weekly capacity of 108 TEU R/T Harare > Maputo > Harare will offer a very short and reliable intermodal transit time of five days for Harare Ramp and six days for Harare Door.
“The gain combined on maritime-rail transit time is 15 days from Asia in connection with Mozex service,” pointed out CMA CGM, which noted Harare is reached from Shanghai in 31 days, Yantian 30 days, Qingdao 35 days, Busan 36 days, while export cargo from Harare Ramp bound for Shanghai in 48 days, Yantian 42 days.
CMA CGM added that with the new solution, its customers will be able to reduce their carbon footprint on the intermodal part by 50%.
