The CMA CGM Group renews its Antillean banana transport contract with UGPBAN until 2026 and reaffirms its commitment to the economic development of the French West Indies
- CMA CGM will transport 270,000 tons of West Indian bananas each year to Dunkerque

On the occasion of the signature on November 30 in Dunkirk of a partnership charter for the export of Caribbean bananas, Rodolphe Saadé, Chief Executive Officer of the CMA CGM Group, has renewed the transport contract with UGPBAN until 2026 and reaffirmed the Group’s commitment to the economic development of the French West Indies.
Delivery of 4 new ships for the French West Indies
In 2019, the CMA CGM Group will be delivered with 4 ships dedicated to serving the French West Indies. The CMA CGM Fort de France, delivered in January, will be the first copy of an order for four container ships that will fly the French flag. Each of them will be able to carry 3,300 TEUs (Equivalent twenty feet) and will have 850 plugs to connect the refrigerated containers (“Reefer”) allowing the transport of bananas in optimal conservation conditions.
This modernized fleet of owned vessels will maintain the quality, reliability and consistency of the CMA CGM service between the Caribbean and Europe and further reduce its environmental footprint.
