CMA CGM cyber attack update: Limited leak of its customers’ personal data detected

CMA CGM has announced that a limited leak of contact information related to some of its customers has been detected on one of the company’s mobile apps during its regular surveillance operations.

“The leak concerns limited personal data of our customers’ representatives: first and last names, employer, position, business email address and phone number,” said the French shipping firm in its latest update on the recent cyber attack.

However, the company confirmed that confidential information related to commercial contracts, bank details and other information with CMA CGM has remained completely secured.

The Marseille-based shipping group added there has been no operational impact on its activities and all its operating systems are working normally. “All data exchanges with our customers and suppliers have remained fully secured,” noted CMA CGM.

Meanwhile, the company’s IT teams have developed and installed security patches on mobile apps, according to a statement, while CMA CGM said it has informed all relevant authorities about this incident and is working with them.
