CMA CGM Group has enhanced its French network with the deployment of three ships dedicated to the trade between Asia and France, where approximately 30,000TEU of additional cargo will be transported.
The first of these ships, CMA CGM Titan which made its first call at Fos Port in Marseille between 25 and 27 November, is currently en route for Dunkirk, where it will arrive on 3 December, before travelling to Le Havre.
Loaded with more than 9,000TEU, CMA CGM Titan is primarily carrying furniture, household appliances, home decor items, toys, bicycles and scooters, and automotive parts, all of which will be shipped to their final destinations in order to supply French retailers and manufacturers in the run-up to Christmas.
The 11,356TEU vessel will be followed in the coming days and weeks by the 2012-built APL Le Havre and then the 2011-built APL Gwangyang.
This move constitutes a part of a range of measures taken by CMA CGM especially concerning the French market, such as the additional 900TEU of space allocated per week from Asia, compared to 2020, as well as the addition of Le Havre to the FAL1 rotation, as well as Dunkirk which is already served.
CMA CGM has also announced that it incorporated nine of its largest ships serving in these French ports, while it deployed 15,000TEU boxships to serve Fos, replacing 11,000TEU vessels.
Overall, the Marseille-based container carrier has significantly enhanced its shipping fleet by increasing 5.9% its capacity between September 2020 and September 2021, while it acquired 51 used, 10 new directly owned vessels and three new 15,000TEU charter ships since the start of the year.
Last but not least, CMA CGM has expanded its container fleet by 800,000 units over 15 months, reaching a total of 4.8 million units.
