CMA CGM empowers West Coast Central America network with new service

CMA CGM will launch the New Tikal 2 service to complement the current New Tikal service and improve connections in West Coast Central America.

With this new loop, CMA CGM becomes a vessel operator on the trade and believes it will enhance its allocation to match customers’ strong demand from/to Acajutla and Puerto Quetzal.

The French carrier’s new weekly service will start in January 2022. CMA CGM will deploy three container ships on the New Tikal 2, which will have the following port rotation:

Lazaro Cardenas – Manzanillo (MX) – Puerto Quetzal – Acajutla – Corinto – San Lorenzo – Puerto Quetzal – Lazaro Cardenas

The Marseille-headquarter box line has announced that Lazaro Cardenas to Acajutla will need seven days, while Manzanillo to Puerto Quetzal will need 11 days.

The first southbound sailing of the service will begin from Lazaro Cardenas on 25 January and the first northbound sailing will start on 8 February from San Lorenzo.
