CMA CGM implements congestion surcharge in Canadian ports

Due to the current strike disruptions in Canada’s East Coast ports, CMA CGM has announced the implementation of a Port Congestion Surcharge (PCS).

This surcharge will be effective from 23 November 2024 (based on the loading date) and will remain in place until further notice.

It will apply to cargo shipped from North Europe, including North France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Scandinavia, Poland, the Baltic region, and North Spain (Bilbao and Gijon), as well as from the Mediterranean region. This includes Malta, France (Fos and Marseille), Italy, Spain (Algeciras, Valencia, Barcelona, Sagunto, and Vigo), the Adriatic, the Black Sea, North Africa, Cyprus, Greece, Türkiye, Lebanon, Portugal, and Morocco, but excludes Egypt.

The surcharge will apply to dry and reefer cargo destined for the Canadian East oast ports of Montreal, Halifax, and Saint John, along with all inland destinations served via these ports.

For dry cargo, the surcharge will be US$400 per 20′ container and US$600 per 40’/40’HC/45′ container. For reefer cargo, the rates are US$500 per 20′ container and US$1,000 per 40’/45′ container.
