CMA CGM will apply a port congestion surcharge (PCS) of US$1,5000 per TEU to the ports of Fuqing Fuzhou in China. This surcharge will be applicable by tomorrow (21 July) and for reefer cargoes only.
As for sailings beginning from the ports of the US and Brazil, the surcharge will take effect on 21 August.
The French carrier is setting the PCS due to ongoing developments in the ports of Fuqing Fuzhou, which have made the terminal operations moving slowly, while the most reefer plugs at the yards of container terminals are already being occupied.
Consequently, CMA CGM announced it is now forced to divert reefer cargo to other ports and to raise its prices in order to cover the additional costs.
The Marseille-based line added that for ongoing units and those which have already been rerouted, a specific surcharge will be calculated at the time of the reloading as soon as space is made available on the terminals.
