Following the announcement of the ban on plastics aboard its ships, with effect from 15 April 2022, the CMA CGM Group has now launched a platform namely “My Daily Impact”, aiming to take further action to protect the environment.
Targeted exclusively at its staff members, the programme offers educational content for a better understanding of climate issues, as well as customised tools to assess each individual’s carbon footprint, and individual and group challenges to limit staff members’ impact on the environment in their day-to-day activities.
The goal of this initiative also includes reducing the use of motorised vehicles, as well as decreasing plastic consumption and digital pollution by deleting emails or unused data on servers.
The global logistics group noted that these challenges could even make it possible to raise funds to support charities and organisations involved in protecting the environment.
Two start-ups, WeNow and Mão Boa, are working with CMA CGM on this initiative, providing their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) expertise, as well as educational and digital platforms.
With a pre-launch in November among 400 first-time users in 52 different countries, CMA CGM’s platform has already allowed for a saving of more than 14 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) in four months, according to a statement.
