CMA CGM revamps three services in West Africa

CMA CGM has decided to reshuffle the port rotations of three West Africa-related services, MEDWAX, EURAF 3 and WAZZAN.

“This revamp will stabilize EURAF fleet and provide a more reliable quality of service,” said the French company in a statement.

Firstly, the port rotation of the MEDWAX service will be Algeciras – Tanger – Dakar – Conakry – Freetown – San Pedro – Algeciras.

CMA CGM will deploy four container ships of 2,500-2,800 TEU capacity and the full port rotation will be completed in 28 days. The first departure has been scheduled for 7 May from the port of Algeciras with the 2004-built boxship, Atlantic Discoverer.

Moreover, the port rotation of the EURAF 3 service will be Algeciras – Tanger – Monrovia – Banjul – Algeciras.

The service will be operated in 42 days with five vessels of 1,700-2,200 TEU capacity. The French carrier said the 2000-built Lion completed the first departure on 1 May from Algeciras.

Furthermore, CMA CGM noted that the WAZZAN service will now be offered in 28 days and will use four 1,300-1,700 TEU container vessels.

The port rotation will need 28 days and will be Casablanca – Algeciras – Tanger – Nouakchott – Dakar – Nouadhibou – Las Palmas – Casablanca.

According to CMA CGM, the first departure has been scheduled for 13 May with the 2008-built Atlantic Silver departing from the port of Algeciras.
