CMA CGM revises congestion surcharge in Algerian ports

CMA CGM has announced revised port congestion surcharges (PCS) in Algeria’s ports of Oran and Alger due to continuing delays in between congestion/waiting time plus berth time on the current vessels berthing sequences.

As a result, laden cargo lead-time is being increased, empty equipment re-loading / repositioning frequency is affected and operating costs are rising, according to the French ocean carrier.

Thus, CMA CGM will implement a surcharge of US$/GB£/€150 per TEU for dry, out of gauge (OOG), hazardous, reefer and special cargo.

The surcharge will take effect on 15 July and will be applied for sailings from the Mediterranean (including Portugal), North Africa (including Morocco), Black Sea and North Europe (including Baltic) to Oran and Alger.

“Any revision in the quantum of this surcharge related to the evolution of the local situation will be communicated with a seven-day notice,” pointed out CMA CGM.
