French ocean carrier CMA CGM reported that the Amazon River’s navigability conditions are not improving and as a result, has revised the Low Water Surcharge (LWS) on any cargo from/to Manaus, Brazil.
The Marseille-based container line said the updated surcharge will be US$1,100/TEU and will be effective from 25 September until further notice. The surcharge will be applied to all types of cargo for both imports and exports.
The company noted that the low water surcharge will be implemented on 5 October for the United States, US territories, Colombia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Panama, Venezuela, Argentina, and Ecuador with the amount set at US$750/TEU, increasing to US$1,100/TEU on 25 October.
