CMA CGM sets Latin America and Caribbean surcharges

The French shipping line CMA CGM has announced the implementation of new surcharges for sailings to Latin America and the Caribbean, which will take effect in the middle of February.

Firstly, the European ocean carrier will apply a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) from the East Coast ports of Mexico to Central and South America, Caribbean, Windward and Leeward. The PSS that will be US$175 per TEU and will be imposed on all dry cargoes, will be effective on 13 February, with a short-term contract.

Two days later, CMA CGM will introduce another PSS of US$50 for reefers and dry containers, travelling from the Caribbean to Latin America and the Caribbean.

In particular, the surcharge will be effective in shipments from Antigua & Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, British and US Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Netherlands Antilles, Puerto Rico and Trinidad & Tobago, to Central and South America, Mexico, Leeward, Windward, and the Caribbean.

The Marseille-based shipping company stated that this PSS will have a short-term contract, too.
