After the announcement of the launch of a new Comoros feeder service, CMA CGM has confirmed the start of another new Indian Ocean feeder service aiming to extend its network in the region.
The new product will run with one ship of 700TEU nominal capacity on a fortnightly basis, connecting Réunion, Madagascar, Comoros and Mauritius. Its rotation will be Pointe des Galets ─ Tamatave ─ Longoni ─ Port Louis ─ Pointe des Galets.
The Cyprus-flagged ANL Darwin Trader will be deployed on the first sailing of the new Indian Ocean service, which is scheduled on 6 August.
The French carrier said this new service will be complementary to its current services IOFEED 1 and IOFEED 2, the rotations of which will remain unchanged.
“It will benefit from the presence of two CMA CGM terminals in the rotation, Pointe des Galets and Longoni, offering smooth transshipment, and strengthening the link between Indian Ocean and our worldwide services,” noted the company.
From Pointe des Galets, Tamatave will be reached in one day and Longoni in four days, while from Longoni, Port Louis and Pointe des Galets will be reached in three days, according to CMA CGM’s announcement.
The Marseille-based line added that the Zanzibar shuttle formerly on ANL Darwin Trader will be offered fortnightly, on its partner’s vessel, Laura with the first sailing scheduled on 28 July from Zanzibar.
