CMA CGM has announced that the container terminal in Douala port has imposed restrictions on the discharge of reefer boxes due to ongoing congestion in Cameroon’s port.
According to the terminal’s restrictions, containers can be discharged from vessels only if a delivery under tackle is ensured. Additionally, containers idling at the terminal must be evacuated.
Therefore, CMA CGM has decided to stop accepting new reefer bookings to Douala “until further notice”.
The French ocean carrier noted, “For containers at sea, shippers must ensure that the consignee agrees to take delivery under tackle.”
CMA CGM added in its statement that “As per terms and conditions of CMA CGM Bill of Lading, CMA CGM reserves the right to discharge cargo in the alternative port of Kribi. Haulage to the final destination will be on the receiver’s account.”
