CMA CGM’s new service to link Greece, Egypt and Turkey

The French carrier CMA CGM has announced the launch of its Short Sea weekly service, which will connect North Greece with Egypt and South Turkey.

The new service’s name is GETEX – Greece Egypt Turkey Express – and will start on 5 October 2021 ex Thessaloniki port, Greece’s second-largest container port.

The full port rotation of the new product will be Thessaloniki – Damietta – Alexandria El Dekheila – Mersin – Thessaloniki and the service’s frequency will be ten days.

The Marseille-based box line will deploy one vessel with a nominal capacity of 850TEU.

“This sustainable and best-in-class option is aiming at fostering your connection from North and Central Greece, Eastern Europe to Egypt and South Turkey and direct and fast connection between South Turkey and Greece with a gateway to Eastern European countries,” commented CMA CGM.

The French shipping firm noted that ocean transit time from Thessaloniki to Damietta will be two days, to Mersin five days, while three days will be needed from Mersin to Thessaloniki.
