CN, Union Pacific Railroad (UP) and GMXT have announced the creation of their joint Falcon Premium intermodal service, which is expected to be a “best-in-class Mexico-US-Canada service” with a seamless rail connection in Chicago, Illinois.
The new product will directly connect all CN origin points within Canada and Detroit, Michigan to GMXT terminals in Mexico: Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, and Silao, Guanajuato.
“This service will directly benefit intermodal customers shipping automotive parts, food, FAK (freight all kinds), home appliances, and temperature-controlled products,” said a joint statement, according to which, the service will take advantage of GMXT’s transit times between Silao (Mexico), Guanajuato (Mexico), and Eagle Pass (Texas), as well as Union Pacific’s route from Texas to Chicago and CN’s service linking Chicago to all destinations in Canada through the EJ&E Chicago bypass.
“Falcon Premium service is a game changer for intermodal customers,” highlighted Tracy Robinson, president and CEO of CN.
