Congestion challenges force 2M Alliance to reduce Oakland calls frequency

2M Alliance, comprised of Maersk Line and Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), will change the frequency of calls in Oakland for its TP8/Orient service.

The TP 8/Orient service will call the Port of Oakland, US fortnightly from a weekly basis “due to the current challenging market situation impacting port activities and generating congestion across supply chains,” said MSC in a statement.

The change will be effective from the 28th week of the year (12-18 July) in Asia aiming to enhance schedule reliability.

The first omission of the Port of Oakland for the TP 8/Orient service will be for the 10,600TEU Cap San Juan, voyage 128N, ETA Oakland on 7 August, which will rotate as follows: Qingdao – Shanghai – Ningbo – Busan – Long Beach.
