Container explosion rocks Jebel Ali Port

A fire broke out in a container within a boxship anchored in DP World’s Jebel Ali Port in Dubai yesterday, on 7 July, according to Dubai Media Office (DMO).

A Dubai Civil Defense team went immediately on the fire field to put out the blaze and after 40 minutes fire was brought under control, with DMO reporting no casualties.

“The Jebel Ali Port fire has been brought fully under control and the cooling process is underway,” said Director-General of Dubai Civil Defense Maj. Gen. Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi.

Jebel Ali Port authorities stated, “We are taking all necessary measures to ensure the normal movement of ships in the port continues without any disruption.”
