Container traffic increases at Port of Melbourne in July

Strong container volumes were seen in July at the Port of Melbourne in Australia ahead of the traditional peak season, according to a port’s statement.

More specifically, Port of Melbourne reported that its total container throughput (full and empty) last month increased by 3.7% compared to July 2021, reaching 285,561 TEU, while year-to-date container volumes are also up 3.7%.

Full overseas imports rose 3.9% in July 2021 with strong trade flowing through post-Shanghai lockdowns, while full container exports fell 5.7% in July 2021.
