Container volume growth at NWSA continues despite exports fall

The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) has reported volume growth for another month, handling a total of 313,430TEU in October and reflecting an increase of 5.6% compared to the same month of the previous year.

This number brings year-to-date volumes to more than 3.1 million TEU, which translates to a growth of almost 15% year-on-year.

Furthermore, NWSA, a marine cargo operating partnership of the ports of Seattle and Tacoma, has registered an increase of 7.2% in full imports, completing 122,803TEU, while full exports fell by 9.8% to 57,971TEU.

Hence, during the January – October period, NWSA’s full imports have been elevated by 20.7%, reaching 1,224,528TEU and full exports have totalled 580,737TEU, which translates to a slight drop of 1.2% year-on-year.
