Container volume growth in Imam Khomeini Port continues

The Imam Khomeini Port in Iran has announced that its container traffic has been increased for a second consecutive year.

Particularly, during the first five months of the year according to the Iranian calendar, Imam Khomeini Port has handled a total of 62,690TEU, representing a growth of 12%.

The Ports & Maritime Organisation explained that this increase has been driven by the proper cooperation and coordination of Imam Khomeini port container terminal with the owners of goods and shipping lines.

Furthermore, the port invests in further growth by cooperating with the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organisation and the Southern Railway for a corridor establishment, in order to facilitate the export of container goods between the General Administration of Ports and Maritime of Khuzestan.

Therefore, due to the memorandum of cooperation for the launch of the export corridor, in combination with the increasing market demand, the Iranian port believes that container trade will be flourished.
