Contargo renews contract with French container terminal in Valenciennes

The container hinterland logistics group Contargo will continue to operate the box terminal Escaut Valenciennes Conteneurs Terminal (EVCT) in northern France.

The newly-signed contract extension agreement came into force on 1 January 2022 and will last for fifteen years.

The French container terminal, which went into operation in 2015, was extended in 2017 and again in 2021, reaching a current annual handling capacity of 140,000 TEU.

With the extension of the agreement, Contargo secures its commitment to the ongoing development of the container terminal and its multimodal transport activities.

In the short term, various investments are planned in handling equipment, including a new reach stacker and a second portal crane, as well as the offering of rail transport, according to Contargo.
