Contship proceeds with La Spezia Container Terminal expansion project

The expansion of the La Spezia Container Terminal (LSCT), Contship Group’s Container Gateway Terminal in La Spezia, has entered a new phase.

The call for tenders for the construction of the first phase of the new Ravano terminal has been officially published.

“We are adding an important element into our strategic development plans through which LSCT aims to become a reference point in global trade dynamics by conquering new traffic shares,” stated Matthieu Gasselin, CEO of the Contship Italia Group.

“I would like to thank the Port Authority of the Eastern Ligurian Sea and the Municipality of La Spezia. Thanks to our close and productive cooperation, we have fulfilled our commitment and met the shared deadlines for publication. Now, we are eagerly awaiting the certificate of explosive ordnance disposal, which is another crucial step toward realizing our ambitious project. In little over a year, together with the entire Contship team, we have achieved numerous important objectives, including volume increase, internalization of the carousel service, and the launch of the tender for the new Ravano terminal construction. Witnessing the growth and progress of our Group makes me proud,” said Gasselin, commenting on the intense work in the last few months before the official launch of the tender.

The construction programme for the container terminal is outlined in the executive project and divided into two phases. Interested parties have until 3 September to submit their applications, and the winner will be announced by the end of December.
