COSCO and NX SHOJI pen low-carbon marine energy deal

COSCO SHIPPING and NX SHOJI recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly accelerate the progress of low-carbon green marine energy by leveraging used cooking oil (UCO) as a biofuel feedstock to provide a steady supply of this eco-friendly fuel to the marine energy market represented by Japanese ports.

COSCO SHIPPING said it has shown commitment to develop a greener future with lower carbon emissions. Its efforts have been directed at supporting innovation in the maritime sector, facilitating long-term research on green fuel, and engaging with clients and partners to achieve green transformation.

Furthermore, COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry Technology Weihai (CHIT) and Alfa Laval have joined forces in an effort to promote methanol fuel systems and accelerate the adoption of sustainable methanol fuel in the shipping industry by combining each party’s technological and marketing strengths.
