COSCO, CMA CGM add La Spezia Container Terminal to MedGulf service

Starting in early August, the La Spezia Container Terminal (LSCT) call will be added to the MedGulf service operated by CMA CGM and COSCO, connecting the ports of the western Mediterranean with those of the US Gulf and Mexico.

The MedGulf service was launched at the end of 2022 and the port rotation includes Tanger Med (Morocco), La Spezia (Italy), Genoa (Italy), Barcelona (Spain), Valencia (Spain, Miami (US), Veracruz (Mexico), Altamira (Mexico), and Houston (US).

The new connection strengthens the partnership between CMA CGM and Contship Italia Group, as LSCT terminal offers numerous connections on major global routes operated by the French carrier.

“The MedGulf service caters to all import/export flows in northern and central Italy, and we are proud to share this important news for the entire port system of La Spezia,” affirms Cristiano Pieragnolo, chief commercial officer of Contship Italia. “The debut call in La Spezia is expected on 6 August with the ship AS Paola, and thanks to this new service we will further develop the number of connections to the US and Mexican markets via LSCT.”
