Cosco Shipping announces new chairman

Wan Min is now the chairman of the largest shipping company in the world, China Cosco Shipping Corporation Limited.

The Chinese shipping giant has appointed Wan Min as the new company’s chairman, replacing Captain Xu Lirong, who reaches the mandated retirement age of 65 for leaders of Chinese state-run entities.

Xu Lirong has stepped down as chairman and party secretary at Cosco Shipping after six years in charge.

The decision was announced on 1 November during the general meeting of the company for management personnel.

Cosco said that procedures will follow to implement this change in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations.
