Cyberattack downs CMA CGM systems

The CMA CGM Group has confirmed it is currently dealing with a cyber-attack impacting peripheral servers, according to a statement.

All the websites of the French group’s subsidiaries, including CMA CGM, APL, CNC and ANL, have been shutting down. CEVA Logistics is the only company of the group that is not affected by the malware attack.

Unconfirmed reports say that the French carrier has been asked by hackers to contact and pay them within two days in order to regain access to their systems, but the company refuses to corroborate these reports.

As soon as the security breach was detected, external access to applications was interrupted to prevent the malware from spreading, said the French company, and added that all their teams are fully mobilised and access to the information systems of the group is gradually resuming.

The CMA CGM network remains available to the Group’s customers for all booking and operational requests, while an investigation is underway, conducted by CMA CGM’s internal and independent experts.

Earlier in the day, CMA CGM Group released an announcement, in which it stated, “External access to CMA CGM IT applications is currently unavailable. IT teams are working on resolving the incident to ensure business continuity. For all bookings, please contact your local agency.”
