A dock worker lost his life at the port of Los Angeles after a fall from the superstructure of a container vessel onto the deck below, approximately 15 metres high.
The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) said that firefighters arrived on the scene and found there was no confined space rescue or physical extrication required.
According to LAFD’s announcement, firefighters and paramedics initiated resuscitative measures, but they were unable to resuscitate the dead man.
The details surrounding the event are currently unclear and it is not known what caused the accident. According to available information, the incident seems to have taken place at the APMT Pier 400 terminal, while the vessel has not been identified.
The United States Coast Guard has been notified and the incident will be handed over to Los Angeles Port Police.
