DHL Supply Chain to open new distribution center in US

DHL Supply Chain, part of DHL Group, announced a new, 70,000m² distribution center in Violet Township, Ohio.

The new distribution center in the United States, which will be located near DHL Supply Chain’s US headquarters in Westerville, Ohio, is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2024.

According to the company, this addition brings DHL’s total footprint to around 1.4 million m² in its home state and around 15 million m² in North America.

The Violet Township facility aims to leverage the latest robotics technology and automation processes. In addition to prioritising digitalisation investments, this facility will lead the industry in sustainable building planning and construction, according to a statement, including the following sustainable features: LED lighting with smart controls, clerestory windows for natural lighting in the warehouse and electric vehicle charging infrastructure for commercial vehicles and cars.

Furthermore, the new distribution center includes solar PV-ready roof, native flora and fauna landscaping and rainwater harvesting for landscape irrigation.

“Our dedicated in-house real estate platform prides itself on custom-designing warehouse facilities so that our customers can stay focused on their core business needs,” said Carl DeLuca, head of Real Estate Solutions Americas at DHL Supply Chain.
