DP World Sokhna completes first passenger vehicle export shipment

In a significant boost to Egypt’s automotive industry, DP World has successfully managed the first-ever export shipment of passenger vehicles from Ain Sokhna Port.

The roll-on-roll-off (ro-ro) vessel ULUSOY 5, operated by Khedivial Marine Agency (KMA) Egypt, recently set sail for Jebel Ali, Dubai, carrying 498 locally assembled Nissan Sunny cars.

Following this initial shipment, DP World aims to export up to 10,000 vehicles in 2025, further driving growth in Egypt’s automotive sector and bolstering the nation’s economic development.

Avnash Iyer, COO & Acting Country Head of Egypt at DP World, mentioned: “This first ro-ro export shipment is a significant step for Egypt’s automotive sector. It’s a testament to the collaborative efforts of our team and Nissan Egypt. By leveraging our end-to-end capabilities to streamline customer supply chains, we are integrating Egypt into global trade networks. This helps local manufacturers reach new international markets and supports the long-term growth of the country’s economy.”

As a comprehensive trade and logistics centre, DP World Sokhna plays a pivotal role in enabling the export of Egyptian-made vehicles, aligning with the company’s vision to enhance Egypt’s role in regional and global supply chains.

In addition to vehicle exports, DP World Egypt offers customers integrated services, including container handling, bulk cargo, general and project cargo, passenger services, and advanced logistics solutions such as freight forwarding and 3PL services.

Over the past 20 years, DP World has invested over US$1.3 billion to modernize Ain Sokhna Port. Current investments, such as expanding freight forwarding offices, enhancing 3PL services, and developing a state-of-the-art logistics park, continue to strengthen Egypt’s supply chains and streamline trade operations.
